Start - Sept. 17th 2024 Tanka can be loosely translated to "short poems" and is a major genre of Japanese literature. This style of expression and art was used in a romantic setting, usually between close friends and lovers. However, this style could be explored through the lens of horror in what I would like to label an art study. The units of Tanka is 5-7-5-7-7, roughly relating to the moras, or syllable, per line.
As a preface, I am no linguist, and I do not read, write, or speak Japanese. I will use translational services to attempt to craft horrible accidents as I bring English to Japanese. One day, maybe we can bring proper translation and respect to a beautiful languange and culture.
Floating in the icy abyss Ivory clad remains drift with the current A foul breeze drifts Empty are the sockets that gaze onto us A reflection born from ice, malice, and death Kōri no shin'en ni ukabu Zōge o kita mama nagare ni tadayou Iyana kaze ga tadayou Watashi-tachi o mitsumeru soketto wa soradesu Kōri to akui to shi kara umareru hansha
氷の深淵に浮かぶ 象牙を着たまま流れに漂う 嫌な風が漂う 私たちを見つめるソケットは空です 氷と悪意と死から生まれる反射
